2. Check Out Your Chimney
Look for any cracks or missing mortar. Deterioration &/or damage of any kind can cause leaks, compromising the integrity of your chimney. A leaky chimney can sometimes be mistaken for a roof leak. If you are experiencing a leak in the neighborhood of your chimney, contact us today to provide a professional inspection & leak diagnosis.

3. Clean Your Gutters
This is an essential step to maintaining the longevity of your roof. Clogged gutters make it easy for water (or ice during freezing temps) to seep under the structure of your roof, thereby harming its integrity. ReBuild, Inc. recommends cleaning your gutters twice per year, once in late Spring & again in late Fall, to prevent unnecessary damage.

4. Trim Overhanging Branches
Do not allow overgrown landscaping to wreak havoc on your roof. At minimum, overhanging branches will drop leaf litter & debris onto your roof, which will absorb moisture & lead to rot. In severe weather, branches can break free and crash down onto the roof, potentially damaging shingles, underlayment &, depending on the size & weight, even weakening trusses and/or breaking them.

5. Walk Your Home’s Perimeter
Take a close look at the siding, trim & gutters to ensure high winds haven’t loosened or displaced building materials. Look at the ground surrounding your home, as well as on the deck & in the bushes, noting the type & size of any loose debris.

6. Check Your Ceilings & Attics
A good indication that your home’s exterior requires maintenance is finding water stains inside your home. Common warning signs include stains on ceilings and/or walls, bulging paint and/or a musty odor in your attic or the rooms upstairs. If you notice any of these, contact us today to provide a professional inspection & leak diagnosis.
